Yesterday, I told you about the coworker who I spotted in his cubicle “rendezvous-ing” with someone in an online dating site. Seriously, it’s not something that you should be ashamed of because there isn’t anything embarrassing about getting to know random people without the dangers of getting into “it” too quickly. (“It” being sex/serious emotional investments/weird proposal/ severe rejection) I have to admit that I had some serious “beating” in the net messenger the entire morning from that coworker. Everyone in the office knew it was him, and because he wasn’t a sport about it, I’m writing about every single bit and morsel of information about his online escapade… I kid, I kid, for I do value my life, I’m not about to give up my career/ life over exposing somebody’s online romance.
As I was saying, there is nothing wrong with online dating especially if you aren’t expecting too much out of it. That is the key to a successful online date – DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH… Let me expound on that and some other things too.
When I say do not expect too much, you have to consider that people who are going to these sites may be as skeptical as you are at first because we may never know the quirks of the people we meet online. It’s possible that most of them are not exactly setting their best foot forward and some of them may be hard selling themselves.
Lying with people you chat with as much as it may seem convenient is not really a good thing in online dating. You may keep personal things like real contact details, location and stuff like that but never lie about what kind of person you really are. It’s not always comfortable to hide behind a 24 year old girl’s character if you are 42. You are not only fooling the person you are talking to, you are also fooling yourself. Be aware of the fact that people in these kinds of sites vary in age, gender, race and interests so, there’s no point in pretending.
Invest in sites that seem promising. There are sites like say… fling.com that should get you hooked with a person who is a perfect match. Gawd, its only 25 fucking dollars dating a hooker should cost you like… twice… You go online dating because you want quality time, right? It’s for meeting new people that you can share your interests with or possibly hook up with. Don’t go on preying on victims for sex, if you want to screw, go get a hooker…
